Man Fatally Shot at Drive-Through, Police Open Investigation

A murder investigation has been launched by KwaZulu-Natal police after a man lost his life in a tragic incident at a fast food outlet on Thursday night.

The upsetting event occurred at a drive-through located on Inanda Road in Hillcrest.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the provincial police spokesperson, revealed that they are looking into the murder case following the discovery of a 32-year-old man's body on the floor with a gunshot wound.

Reports suggest that an unidentified suspect shot the victim before fleeing the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was at the fast food outlet, ordering food, when another car parked next to him.

The drivers of both vehicles got out, and an argument broke out, leading the other driver to open fire.

The victim, a resident of Claremont, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and tragically passed away at the scene.

In a separate incident on Friday morning, an alleged hijacker was shot and killed on the N2 highway. The hijacking attempt targeted a 60-year-old man at the Tongaat Toll.

During the encounter, the man sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. IPSS Advanced Life Support Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further care.

Dylan Meyrick, the IPSS spokesperson, stated that the police and private security companies were close by at the time of the shooting and managed to chase some of the hijacking suspects.

This led to a shootout between law enforcement and the suspects on the N2 northbound offramp at Tongaat.

One suspect was fatally wounded during the shootout, while the rest of the suspects escaped in the hijacked vehicle.
