LA Authorities Probe Possible Link Between Rapper Pop Smoke's Murder and A Naked Body Found in Barrel Recently

The authorities in Los Angeles are investigating a potential link between the murder of Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke in 2020, and the recent discovery of a naked body found inside a barrel floating off a Malibu beach. 

The remains have been identified as Javonnta Murphy, a 32-year-old singer-songwriter. He is also the brother of Jaquan Murphy, one of the suspects initially arrested in connection with Pop Smoke's murder.

Jaquan had been charged with attempted murder in the rapper's case but was later cleared of any involvement. 

However, he is currently awaiting trial for an unrelated murder in Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is now exploring the possibility that Javonnta's death might be linked to retaliation for Pop Smoke's murder.

According to reports, Pop Smoke, whose real name was Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed in a suspected home invasion at a Hollywood Hills residence he had rented in February 2020. 

The attack was carried out by a group of masked men who had learned about his location from his Instagram account.

In July of the same year, two men and two teenagers, all members of the same street gang, were charged with Pop Smoke's killing. 

They had used a gift bag label from one of his Instagram posts to determine his address and targeted him for robbery. 

During the incident, a 15-year-old is alleged to have shot the rapper multiple times, leading to his tragic death.

Recently, Javonnta Murphy's naked body was discovered inside a 55-gallon drum floating in the water near the Pacific Coast Highway bridge. 

Authorities are investigating his death, and it remains uncertain how he died or how long his body was in the barrel before it was found. 

The discovery has shocked the community, as Malibu is known for its beautiful beaches and celebrity residents, not for such disturbing crime scenes.

The investigation is ongoing, and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are working to uncover the truth behind these tragic events.
