A man has been found guilty of murder after forensic scientists from the Metropolitan Police linked his DNA to the crime scene.
Salieu Seray-Wurie, 26 (pictured above), was convicted at the Old Bailey on August 30 for the murder of Darren Ammon, 47.
Seray-Wurie had previously admitted to theft and manslaughter.
The tragic incident occurred when Darren, who was offering Seray-Wurie a place to stay, was killed during an argument over money.
The victim's body was discovered bound and covered with a duvet in his flat in Kirton Gardens, E2, after a concerned member of the public reported his wellbeing to the police.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Darren had died from compression to the neck and had been killed several days before being found.
The investigation revealed that Seray-Wurie's fingerprints were found on the front door of the crime scene.
It was established that Seray-Wurie, who was staying with Darren, needed money to support his drug habit and believed that Darren had taken his bank card.
After the assault, Seray-Wurie stole Darren's television and pawned it before fleeing to Slough.
He was arrested on October 22, 2022, on suspicion of murder.
Seray-Wurie will be sentenced on August 31, 2023, at the Old Bailey.
