Maryland Community on Edge: Bel Air Search for Missing Woman Takes Dark Turn, As Body is Found in Ongoing Investigation

A weekend of anxiety and searching for 37-year-old Rachel Morin, who vanished near the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, came to a somber end when investigators discovered a body near the trail. 

Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler of Harford County stated that the woman's body was found just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, and the missing person case shifted to a homicide investigation. 

Although the authorities strongly believe it is Rachel Morin's body, the official identification still awaits confirmation from the medical examiner.

As of now, there are no suspects or known motives, leaving the community unsettled.

The Ma and Pa Trail will be reopened with heightened police presence while the investigation continues, although the Sheriff could not assure the community that there is no ongoing threat.

Details surrounding the apparent murder remain limited. 

Investigators are unsure of the exact time of her disappearance, speculating it might have happened anytime from 6 p.m. on Saturday until Sunday morning. 

Despite the body's identification pending, the detectives are confident it's a homicide case, based on their observations at the scene.

Rachel Morin was last seen around 6 p.m. on Saturday, and her car was discovered at the entrance of the Ma and Pa Trail hours after her boyfriend reported her missing late Saturday night.
