A passionate advocate for XL Bullies found himself in a horrifying situation when he was attacked by one of these dogs, allegedly set upon him by its owner.
Ben Cźyżyk, a 38-year-old married father of three from Wolverhampton, suffered puncture wounds and deep bruising during the brutal assault that occurred on Friday night in the Tettenhall area of the city.
The terrifying incident unfolded when Ben noticed an XL Bully roaming off its leash shortly after 10pm. Concerned for public safety, he approached the dog's owner and requested that the animal be controlled.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the owner not only unleashed the muscular dog but also attacked Ben himself.
This incident transpired just nine days after Ben, who is a dog owner but not of an XL Bully, posted a message on social media with a picture of one of these dogs, advocating that any breed can be trained to be aggressive and emphasizing the need to address the behavior of the owners, not just the dogs.

Police are still in pursuit of the owner and the dog, both of whom fled the scene upon the arrival of officers. Ben sustained 12 fractures in one eye socket as a result of the attack.
In Ben's own words: "I was out and about enjoying my evening when I came across a very vicious dog owner. When asked to put his dog on a leash, he proceeded to tell his dog to attack, which he also did. I think I got a couple of defensive shots in, but I was no match for an XL Bully and his vicious owner. Thank you to all the hospital staff who helped me."
Ben had been walking with his family when he encountered the dog behaving aggressively near the School Road area of Tettenhall. His reasonable request to the owner to control the animal led to a violent confrontation in which the dog bit his ankles and he was subsequently dragged to the ground.
The owner then proceeded to kick him in the face and head.
A family member described the traumatic incident, stating, "The dog attacked his ankles, and then the owner battered him on the ground."
West Midlands Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
This distressing episode comes at a time when XL Bully owners have been mobilizing in protest of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's plans to ban the breed.
Concerns over the breed's safety have grown following several attacks, including the tragic death of Ian Price, who was killed by two XL Bullies earlier in the month. Owners are worried about the fate of their pets and are even seeking to have them reclassified as "Staffies" to avoid euthanasia.
The government has pledged to work with experts and the police to define the breed and outlaw it under the Dangerous Dogs Act by the end of the year. An amnesty for existing owners who register, neuter, and muzzle their dogs in public is part of the plan.
In another another development, an unnamed man recently faced a harrowing experience in his relationship when his girlfriend resorted to extreme violence to end their connection. See detailed story here.
