Surviving Relationship Violence: One Man's Ordeal

 

An unnamed man recently faced a harrowing experience in his relationship when his girlfriend resorted to extreme violence to end their connection. According to a Twitter user who shared the story, the victim's account unfolds as follows:

This man believed he had found the love of his life and was fully committed to the relationship. He introduced his girlfriend to his family and friends, welcoming her warmly into his life. 

For quite some time, he felt as if he was under a spell, convinced that she was the one for him. Throughout their time together from 2019 until recently, he claims never to have resorted to violence against her or any other woman due to his strong stance against gender-based violence.

Despite enduring disrespect and hurtful words from his girlfriend, he took their arguments lightly, hoping that things would eventually improve. 

However, the breaking point came during a weekend encounter. As a man, he sensed that something was amiss in their relationship. There were also rumors circulating about her involvement with other men while he was away studying in Johannesburg. 

In an effort to provide a safer environment for her due to personal issues she faced at home, he had left her at his parents' house.

Upon returning home, he decided to terminate the relationship and asked her to leave his premises. 

What followed was a shocking and terrifying turn of events. His girlfriend reacted violently, making multiple attempts on his life. The final and most grievous attempt involved her pouring boiling water on him, causing permanent damage to his face and body, all of this taking place in front of his family.

As he shared this account from his hospital bed, he expressed deep distress and confusion regarding the motives behind her heartless actions. He emphasized that his intentions toward her had always been good. 

The physical and emotional scars he now bears will last a lifetime, while she continues with her life. He couldn't help but ponder whether the outcome would have been different if the roles were reversed. 

Apologies, he believes, can never fully mend the profound damage he's endured. This traumatic experience has left him with a profound fear of entering into relationships with women in the future.
