Fatal Public Shooting Shakes Mpumalanga: Pregnant Woman Allegedly Gunned Down by Boyfriend

A tragic incident unfolded in Mpumalanga, South Africa, as a 36-year-old pregnant woman lost her life in a shocking public shooting, allegedly by her boyfriend.

The heartbreaking event took place on September 6, 2023, in Samora Machel Street, near the bustling Buscor's bus terminals in Mbombela.

Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying scene, where the victim had just exited a taxi when the suspect, driving a bakkie, pulled up in front of her.

In a chilling turn of events, he brandished a firearm, firing a shot into her right leg, causing her to collapse.

Tragically, he didn't stop there. He unleashed two more shots into her head before speeding away towards Valencia's direction.

Quick-thinking bystanders immediately dialed the police and paramedics for assistance.

Emer-G-Med arrived at the scene but, devastatingly, could only declare the woman deceased.

Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and reported that a murder case had been officially registered at Nelspruit Police Station.

He provided details of the tragic event, stating, "A 36-year-old woman has been gunned down while en route to work, in full view of commuters. Mdhluli urged anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts to contact Detective Colonel Thamsanqa Mkhaliphi.

As of now, no arrests have been made, but the police are actively pursuing the investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, strongly condemned the incident and vowed that law enforcement would relentlessly pursue the suspect until justice is served.

Additionally, another witness disclosed that the victim's mother had previously taken legal action against the suspect, reporting a case of assault.

She had urged her daughter to leave, citing abuse, which allegedly escalated after the suspect had paid lobola,
