The Jason Hayter Saga Unveiled: Man Faces 7 Years in Jail for Being Married in Britain And Germany At The Same Time

A man is staring down seven years behind bars for leading a secret double life, being married to two women simultaneously in both Britain and Germany.

This wild tale of double-crossing came to light when his daughter from one marriage reached out to his second wife on Facebook, unraveling the web of deception.

The man in question, Jason Hayter, a former soldier, managed to juggle two families and five children without either wife knowing about the other.

He'd live with one family in Germany, where he was stationed with the Army, and make occasional visits to the other in the UK. He always had an excuse for his extended absences, blaming it on his military service, paramedic training, or alleged mental health issues.

The surprising twist in this saga is that Hayter had already been married and divorced before legally tying the knot with his second wife, Tracey Larkcombe, in 2010.

They'd met on a dating website and resided in Germany.

While his second wife was pregnant with their first child, Hayter was already secretly entangled with Sara Hayter, whom he met on a website.

They embarked on a covert relationship in the UK, eventually having a child in 2014 and getting married in 2016 - all while he was still legally married to his second wife. In 2018, twins were added to the mix.

Hayter, residing near Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, appeared in court wearing a pinstripe suit while seated in a wheelchair.

He admitted to the charge of bigamy and now faces a potential seven-year jail sentence when he's sentenced at Norwich Crown Court next month.

Prosecutor Sally Harris highlighted the significant impact of his deception on both families, compounded by the prolonged duration of his double life, the overlapping relationships, and the children involved.

She noted that no effort had been made to rectify the situation, even when divorce was on the table.

Statements from both of Hayter's current wives were presented in court. Mrs. Larkcombe revealed that she believed his frequent trips to the UK were for training purposes, considering it normal for their family.

However, she was blindsided when he texted her one day, saying, "I don't love you anymore, I'm gay." She was left to face debt collectors and shoulder the burden of caring for their children, all while Hayter had moved on and created another family.

Mrs. Hayter, on the other hand, thought her husband's absences were due to his paramedic training for the London Ambulance Service. She expressed her shock at discovering his other families, feeling manipulated and deceived.

Charles Judge, Hayter's defense attorney, highlighted his client's 24-year military service, including deployments in Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

He also mentioned Hayter's diagnosis of PTSD and a stroke suffered the previous year.

Mr. Judge clarified that Hayter's 2016 marriage occurred after the breakdown of his 2010 union, stressing that no false documents were used to facilitate the second marriage.

The judge warned Hayter that all sentencing options, including prison, were on the table. Bigamy carries a maximum sentence of seven years in jail, but due to its rarity, there are no specific sentencing guidelines in place.

In another news a man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for robbery and assault of an elderly woman. See detailed story here
