A woman from North County, Tatyana Remley, aged 42, recently found herself in legal trouble when she was arrested for allegedly attempting to hire someone to murder her husband, Mark Remley.
This startling incident unfolded on August 2 at a Solana Beach Starbucks, where Tatyana was taken into custody without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Facility, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The accusations against Tatyana involve her purportedly seeking an individual to carry out the murder of her husband, Mark Remley, whom she had been married to for 12 years.
The alleged solicitation occurred between July 1 and August 2, as stated in the criminal complaint.
In addition to the solicitation of murder charges, Tatyana is facing legal consequences for two weapon-related offenses.
These charges include carrying and concealing three firearms that were not registered in her name in a vehicle, classified as a felony, as well as carrying a loaded firearm in a public place not registered in her name, categorized as a misdemeanor.
It's worth noting that she had a previous arrest in early June on a felony vehicle theft charge.
Tatyana and Mark Remley gained notoriety for their involvement in the ill-fated production of Valitar, an acrobatic equestrian show scheduled for a 45-show run at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in 2012.
However, the show was abruptly canceled after only a few performances, leaving numerous performers and vendors in a difficult situation.
The couple was also connected to the ownership of Solana Beach cycling studio Rhythm and Power, which opened its doors in 2015 but suddenly closed down in mid-2016.
Tatyana appeared in Vista Superior Court on August 4, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges. Despite a motion to set her bail at $50,000, it was denied by the judge.
Solicitation of murder in California can carry a sentence of three, six, or nine years, and the firearms felony charge could potentially add an additional year to her sentence.
While the Sheriff's Department and District Attorney's Office have not disclosed the specific details surrounding the solicitation case, Mark Remley revealed that Tatyana allegedly offered a mutual friend $2 million to carry out the murder.
He reported this to the police, leading to her arrest a month later in a sting operation. Additionally, he claimed that a few days after her alleged murder-for-hire attempt, she intentionally set fire to their former Rancho Reposo home in early July.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Del Mar Fire Department's bomb and arson unit, and it remains uncertain whether it was arson or not.
The couple's history has been marked by instability and allegations of violence, with multiple instances of separation and reconciliation over the past decade.
Tatyana's divorce filings have included accusations of verbal and physical abuse, property damage, and financial cutoffs by her husband, Mark.
They most recently separated in May, with Tatyana filing for divorce in July. Her financial distress led her to request $15,000 in monthly spousal support, exclusive use of their Del Mar home, vehicles, and pets, among other things.
Tatyana Remley's next hearing is scheduled for October 16.
