The heartbroken mother of Jaylee Chillson, a 14-year-old teen from Kansas who tragically took her own life in front of a deputy, expressed her anger towards her daughter's tormentors.
Stacie Chillson, in a recent Facebook post, shared her deep frustration at those who had hurt her daughter, saying, "I'm angry with those who hurt my baby. I'm furious with those I KNOW hurt her and will talk about her now like they didn't play a part in crushing her."
Jaylee had gone missing on September 16, believed to be attending a field party in Aurora meant for college and high school students. Her parents sought help from the Cloud County Sheriff's Office. A deputy located her and tried to persuade her to return home.
According to the sheriff's office, as the deputy was escorting her to his patrol vehicle, she pulled out a firearm and shot herself in front of several partygoers. The officer did not draw his weapon.
Jaylee's family had previously mentioned that she changed schools to escape relentless bullying, but the mistreatment continued, including incidents of hair-dumping, physical assault, and sexual assault.
Stacie described her daughter's last year as a time of constant torment and exclusion, with Jaylee facing mistreatment from both peers and adults. She criticized those who had treated her daughter poorly and asked them not to use Jaylee's name now that she's gone, saying they don't deserve to.
Jaylee left behind four grieving brothers, and a funeral was held on September 25, where she was remembered for her love of softball, fishing, and camping. Stacie referred to her daughter as having had the biggest heart.
Stacie expressed her heartache, describing Jaylee as her perfect daughter and everything to her. The family is grappling with unbearable grief, and Stacie acknowledged that nothing can make the pain go away.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating the tragic incident. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist the family with funeral expenses, raising over $24,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
In another surprising turn of events, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation stumbled upon human remains that have been identified as Suzanne Morphew, a 49-year-old woman who had been missing since Mother's Day in 2020. See detailed story here
