A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Donavan Allen (pictured above) in Enfield.
Timothy Adeoye, aged 20, received his life sentence with a minimum term of 23 years during a court appearance at the Old Bailey on September 4.
Adeoye's conviction followed a trial that concluded on May 5, where he was found guilty of multiple charges, including the murder of Donavan Allen, possession of an offensive weapon, and threatening a person with a blade in a public place.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, who led the investigation, commented on the case, stating, "Adeoye is a dangerous individual. He has not taken responsibility for his actions, however he will now have time to reflect on their consequences.
Of course, there is no court outcome that could return Donavan to his family, and the thoughts of myself and my team are very much with them today."
Timothy Adeoye, The accused
The tragic incident occurred on February 7, 2022, when police received reports of a stabbing on Ayley Croft in Enfield at 18:10hrs.
Upon arrival, officers and paramedics discovered 17-year-old Donavan Allen, who had sustained a fatal stab wound to the chest. Despite immediate efforts by both the public and emergency services, he tragically passed away at the scene.
A post-mortem examination conducted on February 9 confirmed that Donavan had succumbed to a single stab wound to the chest, prompting the launch of a murder investigation led by Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley.
The investigation revealed that on the day of the murder, three individuals were at a flat on Ayley Croft awaiting the arrival of their friend.
Unexpectedly, Timothy Adeoye entered the scene, brandishing a knife to gain entry to the flat.
After Adeoye gained entry inside, Donavan's friend called the people inside the flat, alerting them that he and Donavan were coming to the flat.
Adeoye instructed them not to reveal his presence and armed himself with a knife from the kitchen before leaving the flat to intercept Donavan's friend in the communal area.
Wearing a balaclava with a skeleton face on it, Adeoye confronted Donavan and his friend, demanding they empty their pockets.
A neighbor in the communal area intervened, warning the group to leave or face a police call. Adeoye responded by threatening the neighbor with a knife.
Donavan and his friend attempted to leave, but Adeoye pursued them, ultimately stabbing Donavan in the chest, resulting in the fatal injury.

As part of the investigation, detectives tracked Adeoye's mobile phone movements, leading to his journey to Paddington train station following the murder.
From there, he traveled to Bristol and eventually to an address at Fore Street, Trowbridge, where he was arrested on suspicion of murder on February 10, 2022.
During his arrest, Adeoye made an attempt to escape through a rear window and dispose of his mobile phone, which was later recovered by officers.
He was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including the murder of Donavan Allen, three counts of attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon, and threatening a person with a knife/blade in a public place.
Donavan's mother expressed her profound loss, describing her son as polite, kind, funny, and talented. She emphasized the inexplicable nature of his tragic death, leaving her family to grapple with an indescribable loss.
