Limpopo Police Launch Search for Escaped Fugitive Thabo Ali Molobela Who Shot Six People Including His Wife And Child

Limpopo police have launched an extensive search for Thabo Ali Molobela, a 35-year-old fugitive who managed to escape from police custody at Sekororo Hospital.

The escape occurred after Molobela, who had allegedly shot himself during an arrest over a week ago, was swiftly disarmed by a police officer and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

He was under police guard in the hospital when he made his escape, and the circumstances surrounding it are currently under investigation.

Limpopo Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, issued a warning that anyone aiding the fugitive would face the full force of the law.

The police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stop at 086-001-0111 or report to the nearest police station or use the My SAPS App.

Last week, it was reported that Molobela, previously identified as the suspect, had been arrested by Limpopo police. He had been on the run after allegedly shooting six people, resulting in two deaths, in Makgophong village, Magatle.

The shooting occurred on August 19, following marital problems between Molobela and his wife.

Reports indicate that he resorted to violence, shooting his wife, their child, her sister, and cousin inside a car. Tragically, the wife's cousin and sister succumbed to their injuries, while she and a one-year-old child remained in critical condition.

Prior to the shooting, Molobela had also attacked another couple who had tried to help him resolve his marital issues.

In a joint operation involving the Limpopo provincial tracking team, provincial murder and robbery units, Magatle detectives, private security companies, and farm watch groups, Molobela was located at Santeng village in Hoedspruit outside Sekororo.

He allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself but was disarmed and promptly received medical assistance.
