New Mexico Man Allegedly Kills Father in Disturbing Front Yard Fight

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, a man named Clayton Garcia, aged 25, allegedly killed his father, Jorge Garcia, who was in his seventies. The incident took place in their front yard on September 23 in the Fair West neighborhood.

Police were alerted when someone reported a disturbance, with a man yelling for someone to die. When officers arrived, they found Clayton Garcia in the driveway washing his feet with a hose. He told the officers that he had been in a fight with his father and claimed it was in self-defense.

Clayton later gave more details about the altercation in an interview with detectives. According to him, his father had become upset with him for being loud after returning from a party, which led to a heated argument.

Things escalated when Clayton tried to leave in a car that his father claimed ownership of. Clayton handed over the keys, but his father broke the car window and confronted him. In the heat of the moment, Clayton admitted that he kicked his father multiple times, ultimately leading to his father's tragic demise.

Clayton explained that his father had wanted him to kill him so that he could go to Valhalla, a belief in Norse mythology.

Clayton said he had never wanted this, but his father had been provoking him for years. As a result of this incident, Clayton Garcia now faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated battery against a household member resulting in great bodily harm, and tampering with evidence.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 28.
