Zimbabwean law enforcement apprehended Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu, a suspected serial killer accused of targeting homeless individuals across various cities, committing heinous acts of violence, and even consuming their flesh.
Ndlovu's gruesome crimes primarily involved assaulting children living on the streets in multiple Zimbabwean towns.
He would brutalize their bodies, often using broken glass bottles to inflict injuries, including the removal of their genitalia and intestines. Afterward, he would proceed to cook their flesh, either through boiling or grilling, before consuming it.
This twenty-year-old suspect, known as Sauro, was taken into custody by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and expressed his intention to plead guilty to the charges brought against him before a Harare magistrate.
Reports from the State-owned publication H-Metro revealed that Ndlovu primarily targeted homeless individuals in various regions of Zimbabwe.
He would select street children who were asleep, brutally attack them by crushing their skulls and mutilating their bodies with broken bottles.
The ZRP, in a statement, disclosed that Ndlovu is connected to at least five murder cases.
Police detectives tracked down Ndlovu after an attempted attack on another child along Ritten Row Road in Harare. The suspect was positively linked to five murder cases occurring at different locations, including Nelson Mandela Avenue in Harare.
Ndlovu is also associated with three additional cases from Bulawayo in 2020, where he attacked victims in Bellevue Suburb, Makokoba Suburb, and Sekhusile shopping center in Nkulumane. These assaults involved crushing victims' heads using various objects while they were asleep or inebriated.
Furthermore, Ndlovu faces attempted murder charges and has an outstanding arrest warrant for a robbery incident in the Milton Park area of Harare in June 2021.
Notably, there is no concrete evidence connecting these murders to ritual killings, according to Nyathi.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi assured the public that ongoing investigations aim to uncover the true motive behind Ndlovu's actions and whether he acted alone or had accomplices.
Further details will be disclosed in due course.
