Young Man, Dasean Wright Arrested with Marijuana: The Bust in Marion County

A 22-year-old man found himself in hot water when he got arrested for carrying over a dozen bags of marijuana in his car, as per the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Dasean Wright faced charges of possessing marijuana with the intention to sell, and he told deputies that he was "just trying to make some extra money," according to an affidavit.

Wright got pulled over on a Friday because the deputies noticed that his car didn't have working tag lights. To further investigate, deputies used a K-9, which signaled a positive alert on the vehicle.

Upon searching the car, deputies came across a green backpack containing a container with a leafy green substance, along with empty plastic bags, a tray, and a scale. In addition, they found cash inside the car's floorboard and 13 baggies filled with the same green leafy material. According to the report, all the baggies and paraphernalia tested positive for marijuana and marijuana residue.

Following his arrest, Wright admitted to deputies that he was "just trying to make some extra money." He also mentioned that he had bought the marijuana "from a guy on top of the world" and didn't have a precise measurement because he didn't weigh it.

Moreover, the 22-year-old confessed to intending to sell the black bags of marijuana but claimed that the money on the floor had no connection to his drug dealings. He stated that he didn't make much money from selling it, saying a bag went for $25.

Deputies weighed the marijuana found in the car, determining a total of 122 grams in a large bag and 59 grams in the 13 smaller bags and a THC container, totaling 181 grams.

Wright posted a $2,000 bond and was subsequently released from the Marion County Jail, according to arrest records.
