Woman, Dawn Coleman, Pleads Guilty in Connection with Death of 5-Year-Old Found in Suitcase

According to various reports, a woman has confessed to her involvement in the death of a 5-year-old boy, whose body was discovered in a suitcase in rural Indiana near Louisville, Kentucky, in April 2022. Dawn Coleman, 40, of Shreveport, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, while the child's mother, Dejaune Ludie Anderson, 37, remains at large.

The fingerprints of both Coleman and Anderson were purportedly found on items in the suitcase, with phones belonging to both women located near the area where the boy's body was recovered, as stated by the Courier Journal. Notably, the affidavit of Coleman's arrest revealed social media posts in which both women referred to the child as a "demon" before his untimely demise.

In May 2022, authorities announced that the child, Cairo Jordan, died due to an electrolyte imbalance likely caused by viral gastroenteritis, as stated in the toxicology and autopsy report. The investigation determined that there was no evidence of physical trauma or toxic substances in the child's blood, the police noted.

Cairo's body was found inside a blue hard-case Las Vegas-themed suitcase.

WTHR mentioned that as part of her plea agreement, Coleman will spend 25 years in prison with an additional five years on probation, and she has agreed to testify against Anderson in any proceedings related to Cairo's death.

Although Coleman was apprehended in San Francisco in October 2022, authorities have yet to locate Anderson.

As per court documents, Coleman allegedly informed the police that upon returning to their Louisville apartment, she found Anderson atop Cairo, who was lying face down on the bed.

Coleman purportedly admitted to assisting Anderson in placing the boy's body in the suitcase, which they subsequently disposed of in the woods in Indiana.
