In Michigan, a 17-year-old boy, who was only 16 at the time, is facing severe charges for allegedly shooting and killing a man known for revealing online predators. The incident unfolded on September 29th in Pontiac, Michigan, inside the Universal Coney Island restaurant. The victim, Robert Wayne Lee II, nicknamed "Boopac Shakur" online, tragically lost his life in the encounter.
Charged as a juvenile, the identity of the teenager remains undisclosed. He faces charges of homicide, carrying a concealed weapon, and possessing a firearm unlawfully. The court has the discretion to decide whether to treat him as an adult or a juvenile offender.
Surveillance footage captured the sequence of events leading to the shooting. Lee entered the restaurant around 10:30 p.m., where the teenager and his 18-year-old friend were already seated. A confrontation ensued, resulting in the teenager pulling out a gun from his waistband and firing multiple shots at Lee. The teenagers fled the scene, leaving Lee fatally wounded. Despite efforts to save him, Lee succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Prosecutor Karen McDonald expressed deep regret over the incident, highlighting the preventable nature of such tragedies. Lee had gained notoriety for his efforts to expose online predators by posing as a teenage girl.

The teenager, who has been in custody since the shooting, also faces charges related to a prior incident outside a supermarket on September 20th. Authorities stressed the importance of promptly reporting such crimes to prevent further violence.
The charges against the teenager carry significant penalties, including up to 15 years for homicide, additional years for carrying a concealed weapon, and potential life imprisonment for assault with intent to murder. Additionally, the firearm charge carries a mandatory two-year sentence.
Following the tragedy, Jackie Lee, the victim's mother, described her son as brave and determined. A fundraising campaign was launched to support Lee's funeral expenses and provide for his daughter, Ah'vyana.
