A Griffin woman has been murdered, and her daughter is now calling for justice.
On September 13, 2024, 44-year-old Krystal Evans, formerly known as Krystal Mallory, was fatally shot outside the Spalding County Courthouse.
The Griffin Police have named Tom Mallory, her ex-husband, as the main suspect in the case.
The tragic incident occurred just days after Krystal's divorce from Mallory was finalized on September 11, 2024.
Krystal’s daughter, Precious Evans, is grappling with the loss of her mother and the devastating circumstances surrounding her death.
She expressed how deeply connected she was with her mother.
She described Krystal as a compassionate woman who had a warm heart, a love for animals, and an obsession with her cats.
Sadly, Precious witnessed her mother go through a tumultuous and difficult divorce over the past year.
Precious explained how much her mother had changed after the divorce.
She stated that Krystal felt a sense of freedom and relief.
"She was so happy after her divorce. She felt free," Precious shared.
"We were even talking about throwing a party to celebrate."
But that joy was short-lived.
Krystal Evans had been very open with her daughter about Mallory's erratic and disturbing behavior.
According to Precious, her father couldn't seem to let go.
In a 2023 Facebook post, Krystal gave a warning about her ex-husband.
She wrote "Please know if something happens to me, Mallory did it."
In light of recent events, this unsettling message now carries even more weight.
Even after the divorce, Mallory continued to harass Krystal Evans.
"After the divorce, this man literally texted her, 'Not happening,'" Precious recalled.
On the day of the murder, Krystal had been at the courthouse for a hearing related to the divorce.
After the hearing, she planned to attend an eviction hearing, as she worked in real estate.
Precious explained that during the hearing, a judge issued a warrant for Mallory.
However, instead of having him arrested on the spot, the judge allowed him to turn himself in the following Monday night.
New details have since emerged about the moments leading up to Krystal's tragic death.
Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix provided a detailed account in a Facebook post.
He explained that Krystal was walking to her car when Mallory, seated in his vehicle, shot her multiple times from the window.
By the time deputies responded to the sound of gunshots, Mallory had already sped away.
In a shocking turn of events, he later attempted to take his own life by shooting himself.
He survived and is currently recovering in the hospital, but Krystal did not make it.
Precious is convinced that her mother’s death could have been avoided.
"My mom literally called the sheriff's department the day before because he was stalking her," Precious said.
"And they did nothing. Had someone walked out with her like her friend asked, she would still be here today" she added.
However, Sheriff Dix, refuted these claims.
He stated that surveillance footage showed Krystal Evans never requested an escort.
He also confirmed that authorities had responded to several domestic violence calls at the Mallory residence over the years.
In many cases, the violence appeared to be mutual, and there were no witnesses to identify who the primary aggressor was.
Although Mallory had been arrested for domestic violence in the past, he had managed to post bail each time.
Despite her overwhelming grief, Precious is determined to seek justice for her mother.
She has no sympathy for Mallory, whom she described as "an evil man" who premeditated his actions.
"He knew exactly what he wanted to do," Precious said.
Precious has already started to rally for justice, hoping that her dad will be held accountable.
