Brittany Fortinberry: Indiana Substitute Teacher Charged with 24 Counts of Child Sex Abuse after She Allegedly R#ped 10 Minors
Warning: This post contains details of child abuse.
Brittany Fortinberry, a 31-year-old substitute teacher is currently accused of sexually abusing multiple underage boys—some as young as 13.
Before these allegations, Brittany was a well-known teacher at Eminence High School, where she taught maths.
In October 2023, she later became a substitute teacher for Martinsville Schools where the alleged abuse came to light.
She was eventually fired from Martinsville on January 9, 2024, following reports of her inappropriate conduct with students.
Brittany was married to Nicholas Fortinberry after they tied the knot on November 11, 2020.
The couple shared a child who was four years old at the time of Brittany’s arrest.
However, in February 2025, after the news of Brittany’s alleged misconduct became public, Nicholas filed for divorce, and also asked for temporary custody of their child, as reported by PEOPLE
Police reports show that Brittany had already faced disciplinary action in the past before she was even fired.
In September 2023, she was suspended from another school due to inappropriate interactions with students.
However, the exact nature of those incidents was not publicly detailed at the time.
That earlier suspension later turned into a major talking point, with people wondering if school officials just overlooked the red flags and hired her at another school.
How Was Brittany Fortinberry’s Alleged Abuse Exposed?
The disturbing allegations against Brittany Fortinberry came to light in August 2024.
This was after the grandmother of a 15-year-old boy reported to authorities that the substitute teacher was sexually abusing her grandson.
This initial complaint led to a wider criminal investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
As criminal investigators dug deeper, they discovered a disturbing pattern of exploitation involving several underage victims—some as young as 13.
They found out that Fortinberry had allegedly groomed students through social media platforms like Snapchat.
She reportedly sent them sexually explicit photos and videos of herself on these platforms.
According to police reports, she gave the underage boys money or expensive gifts and then lured them to her home under the guise of social gatherings.
Once they were in her home, she would have sex with them after giving them alcohol and drugs, like marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms
Several victims reported blacking out after taking the substances she gave them, only to wake up to unwanted sexual activity.
One victim who was 13-year-old accused Brittany of repeatedly drugging him before having sex with him at the time.
According to Kare 11 news, he said Brittany would make him bring his teenage friends to her home, where she would allegedly give them drugs and then have sex with them.
The "Scream Mask" Party: More Disturbing Allegations Exposed
The criminal investigation also revealed that Fortinberry allegedly organized a group sex party with at least five minors, as reported by Kare 11 News
During this disturbing event, the boys were forced to wear scream masks from the horror movie Scream while she raped them.
She also allegedly "rotated" partners every 15 minutes, as reported by PEOPLE.
One victim said that she forced him to watch her have sex with other minors that day after he refused to participate.
Furthermore, Brittany reportedly paid some victims between $100 and $800 for explicit photos of their genitals.
According to police reports, Fortinberry had manipulated her victims emotionally.
She used her position as a teacher to gain their trust before exploiting them.
She also threatened to kill herself if any of her victims ever spoke out.
According to Fox 59, Fortinberry sent pictures of sex toys, drugs, and stripper poles to one of her victims.
When officers carried out search warrants at Fortinberry’s home, they found these items which confirmed the victim's story.
Digital forensics also confirmed the exchange of illicit messages and media between Fortinberry and the students.
After the investigation, detectives revealed that Brittany had sexually assaulted at least 10 underage boys.
This sickening discovery painted a grim picture of prolonged abuse, with many families unaware of what was happening until investigators reached out.

Her Husband was reportedly aware of the crime
The criminal investigation further revealed that Nicholas Fortinberry, Brittany's husband, was aware of her predatory activities.
Instead of reporting to law enforcement, he actively participated in intimidating victims to keep them silent.
According to testimony from Detective Patrick Williams of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Nicholas allegedly confronted one 13-year-old victim in their home with a chilling threat:
"If you don't stop what you're doing with my wife, then I'm going to kill you in front of your family."
The detective further testified that Nicholas followed this violent threat with an even more disturbing instruction:
"Do not continue to do what you're doing with my wife until you turn 16," said Nicholas.
This statement suggested that Nicholas was aware of both the ongoing abuse and the legal implications of his wife's actions with underage boys.
Nicholas also allegedly threatened a different victim that he would "slaughter" them if they ever came forward about the abuse.
According to court documents, Nicholas had multiple opportunities to report his wife's crimes but failed to do so.
Instead, evidence suggests he attempted to control the situation through intimidation rather than intervention.
Justice For The Victims
Brittany Fortinberry was initially arrested and charged in February 2025 with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as reported by PEOPLE.
However, after further investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Child Services, additional victims came forward.
Prosecutors subsequently added more charges on March 14, 2025, including:
- 10 counts of child molestation
- 8 counts of dissemination of matter harmful to minors
- 5 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor
- 1 additional count of sexual misconduct with a minor
Brittany appeared for her initial hearing on April 3, 2025, where her bail was set at $150,000 surety bond plus $10,000 cash.
In total, Brittany Fortinberry is charged with 24 felony counts and she is currently awaiting trial.
Her trial is scheduled to begin on June 25, 2025, in Morgan Superior Court 3.
Her husband, Nicholas Fortinberry was also arrested and charged with intimidation and failure to report a crime.
He posted a $600 cash bond on March 31, 2025, and was released from custody and his legal case is still ongoing.
Additionally, The Metropolitan School District of Martinsville has a pending lawsuit in connection to this case even though they fired Brittany after the allegations surfaced.
The lawsuit alleges negligence for failing to prevent the abuse despite Brittany's prior suspension from another school in September 2023 for similar misconduct
The case is currently ongoing and we will be following it as more details emerge.
