Travis Decker: Three Missing Sisters Found Dead in Washington After Visiting Their Homeless Dad

On Monday, June 2, 2025, three sisters, Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia Decker (5) were found dead at Rock Island Campground, just an hour from Wenatchee, Washington.

The girls had been reported missing since Friday, May 30, after their father, Travis Decker, failed to return them to their mother at the end of a scheduled visit.

On that Friday evening, their mother, Whitney Decker, dropped off the girls with their father at 5pm for a three hour unsupervised visit.

But when their father didn't bring them back after the agreed time, Whitney called the local police department around 9:45 p.m. to report her daughters missing.

After the missing person report was made, authorities chose to treat the case as a custody dispute and not a kidnapping case.

Due to this, an Amber Alert was not issued for the missing girls.

Instead, the Washington State Patrol issued an endangered missing persons alert the next day, but many in the community say it was too late

“Amber Alerts involve more imminency, like we know something will happen, versus what we were dealing with... was more of an overdue child scenario,” said Wenatchee Police Sgt. Joe Eaton, according to news outlet The Sun.

By Monday, June 2, 2025 things took a very dark turn.

Around 3:41 p.m., officers found Decker’s truck abandoned at Rock Island Campground.

A few hours later, the bodies of all three sisters were discovered nearby, and The Chelan County Coroner has confirmed their identities.

Fox News Seattle reported that early checks on the bodies show the girls likely died from asphyxiation.

The police haven't officially revealed how the girls died, but Decker has already been charged with their murders and kidnapping.

Authorities warn that Decker, a former military man who is now homeless, is mentally unstable and possibly dangerous.

“He was living out of his truck, which was found at the campground with the girls’ bodies,” the Wenatchee Police Department said in a statement.

They've asked the public not to approach him but to call 911 if he's spotted.

Since the tragic discovery, outrage has been growing online.

Many are pointing accussing fingers at the local police department for not sending out an Amber Alert sooner.

“This isn’t just heartbreaking, it’s infuriating,” one user wrote on Facebook. “These girls are gone because the system FAILED them.”

Others have questioned why a man with documented mental health issues and no stable housing was still allowed to take his daughters alone.

“Travis has really struggled since he left the military… I think this is an effect of that. I don’t personally think that he’s dangerous. I think he is impulsive and loves his children,” their mother, told newsmen.

Authorities are currently searching for Travis Decker as he remains the only suspect at this time.

Many are now calling for justice, not just for the girls, but for the system to change.

A GoFundMe set up to support Whitney has already raised over $300,000, with donors from all over the country offering both money and messages of comfort.

“These girls were true light in this world, and it is a darker place without them,” the fundraiser reads.

As of today, June 4, 2025, police continue their search for Travis Decker.
