Dallas Manager Beheaded in Machete Attack



Police say a dispute over a broken washing machine led to a shocking and violent attack at a Dallas motel this week, which left the manager dead.

The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Downtown Suites motel located in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard.

According to an arrest affidavit, the motel’s manager, 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, instructed 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez not to use a broken washing machine. .

Cobos-Martinez was cleaning a room with a female co-worker at the time. 

The affidavit states that Cobos-Martinez became upset because Nagamallaiah did not speak to him directly and instead used his coworker to translate.

According to USA Today, Cobos-Martinez left the motel room, pulled out a weapon, and violently attacked Nagamallaiah. 

“The suspect then exited the motel room and produced a machete from his person and started cutting and stabbing the complainant multiple times,” the affidavit reads.

Nagamallaiah ran across the parking lot toward the motel’s front office, screaming for help, but Cobos-Martinez caught up to him and continued the attack. 
 
Nagamallaiah’s wife and son came out of the office and tried to stop the assault, but Cobos-Martinez pushed them away and continued his violent rampage.

Cobos-Martinez reportedly did not stop until he had beheaded the motel manager. 

According to NBC, he then kicked the victim’s head into the parking lot before picking it up and placing it in a dumpster.

First responders arrived at the scene around 9:30 p.m. and reportedly saw Cobos-Martinez running away but officers caught him about a block away. 

When authorities took him into custody, he was "covered in blood and armed with the machete" he is accused of using in the killing.

He was also allegedly found with Nagamallaiah's key card and cellphone, which police say he had taken from the victim’s pockets during the assault. 

Cobos-Martinez was arrested on Friday, September 12, he was officially charged with murder and he is now being held without bond in the Dallas County Jail.

He also reportedly admitted to the killing in an interview with authorities.

According to authorities, Cobos-Martinez was an undocumented immigrant. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed he is a Cuban national with a final order for removal from the United States.

DHS also revealed that Cobos-Martinez had been in ICE custody at a detention center west of Dallas but was released on an order of supervision in January 2025. 

Authorities say the reason for this reOfficials stated Cuba "would not accept him because of his criminal history."

As the legal process begins, a family is left to mourn a loved one lost to an act of unimaginable violence.
