Kada Scott: Remains Found in Shallow Grave Believed to Be Missing Philadelphia Woman

Authorities in Philadelphia have announced a tragic development in the search for 23-year-old Kada Scott, who had been missing for two weeks.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, police said that human remains found in a shallow grave behind an abandoned school are believed to be those of the young woman.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, investigators made the grim discovery after receiving a “very specific” anonymous tip overnight.

Officers began searching the heavily wooded area around Ada H. Lewis Middle School, located near Awbury Arboretum in Germantown, around 10 a.m. that morning.

During the search, they uncovered a shallow grave containing remains believed to be Kada Scott.

“This is a heartbreaking development, and our thoughts are with Kada’s family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time,” police said in a statement. “We remain committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that justice is served.”

Kada Scott was last seen by her mother on October 4, 2025, when she left for work at a nearby nursing home. However, authorities say she left her job early that night and never came back.

Police said Scott’s shift usually ran from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., but it remains unclear what time she left work that night.

Her family immediately reported her missing to the police the next day after she didn’t return home or contact anyone, which was very unlike her.

They also told investigators that she had been receiving a series of disturbing phone calls from an unknown person who had been threatening her before she disappeared.

During their investigations, detectives found out that Scott had been communicating with a man on the night she was last seen alive.

Authorities believe she had stepped out briefly to see him before she mysteriously vanished.

The man, who has been identified as 21-year-old Keon King, was later arrested and charged with kidnapping in connection with her disappearance.

According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Kozlowski, ."Mr. King is the last person we believe to be in contact with her when she went offline.”

Days before the chilling discovery of the body, police had searched the same abandoned school grounds. where they found personal items believed to belong to Kada.

This includes a cell phone case, iPad case, glasses, and a card with her name on it, which were all sent in for forensic testing.

The medical examiner’s office is now working to officially confirm the identity of the remains and determine the cause of death.

The discovery has left the Germantown community heartbroken.

“I pray that God will give the family a certain peace that passes all understanding to meet this moment. The City of Philadelphia is here to support them in any way that we can,” said Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, while she expressed her condolences to the Scott family.

Kada’s father, Kevin Scott, had previously told ABC News that the family was holding onto hope that she would return safely, but sadly, that didn't happen.

While the identification process continues, investigators remain focused on piecing together what happened after Kada left work that night.

Also, the criminal charges against Keon King — already facing kidnapping charges — is expected to expand as more evidence is analyzed.

Police say they are determined to find out who is responsible for Kada Scott’s death and bring justice to her family.
