A Tazewell County woman faces serious criminal charges after an investigation uncovered that she gave birth to a child with a 14-year-old boy.
Robyn Polston, 43, was arrested and is being held without bail following a months-long investigation by the Washington Police Department.
According to PEOPLE, she is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault with a victim between 13 and 17 years old and two counts of possession of child pornography.

The case came to light in January 2025, following the birth of Polston's newborn.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Tazewell County State's Attorney's office, Polston had given the newborn the same middle and last name as the teenage boy who was the alleged victim.
When police confronted Polston with this information, she reportedly insisted the father was "a man in his twenties named Brian" whom she had not seen since the child's birth.
Authorities began investigating the teenage victim and soon uncovered a connection. The boy and Polston's daughter had attended a junior high school dance together in May 2023, and Polston had served as a chaperone at that dance.
The boy moved away soon after the dance but returned for a visit in April 202. This timeline is crucial, as this visit occurred approximately 40 weeks before Polston gave birth in January 2025, aligning with a typical pregnancy.
According to PEOPLE, the affidavit states the boy returned again in June 2024 and then permanently moved back to the area in August 2024.
During the investigation, authorities reportedly discovered "a large number of sexually explicit images and videos depicting [the alleged victim] and Polston."
This discovery led to the additional child pornography charges.
Despite Polston's initial denial, a DNA test was conducted, and the results, confirmed the child's parents were Polston and the alleged victim.
At the time of conception, the boy would have been 14 years old, and he was also friends with Polston's daughter.
Polston was arrested and charged nine months after she gave birth, and each charge of criminal sexual assault can carry a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
She has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled to be formally arraigned on December 4, 2025.
As the legal process moves forward, many are waiting for answers in a case that seems to grow more troubling with each new detail.
