Maris Nichols: Alexander High School Teacher Accused of Abusing Six Teens in Growing Georgia Case

A Georgia high school teacher is now facing multiple charges after she was accused of sexually preying on six teenagers. This dramatic case began earlier this month with allegations involving one student and a school closet, but it has since expanded after extensive investigations revealed more victims.

Maris Nichols was taken back into custody on Thursday, May 22, 2026, roughly two weeks after her first arrest on allegations that she had sex with a male student inside a school closet and later inside his Hummer.

The new arrest comes with 11 additional charges, including child molestation, tampering with evidence, and grooming, with five more teenagers accusing the teacher.

Nichols had been working at Alexander High School in Douglasville since May 2023, where she also served as the football operations manager. However, the district suspended her when they learned of the initial allegations, which involved a teenage boy who told authorities the teacher had sex with him on two occasions.

The first incident reportedly happened inside a classroom cupboard at the school on April 23, and the second took place on May 2 inside a Hummer that was parked in a residential driveway.

Following her first arrest, a judge set bond at $74,000, and she was released from jail the next day, according to jail records, as per Fox News. But as the investigation continued, investigators uncovered what authorities describe as a much wider circle of victims.

According to Daily star, the new charges state that the teacher had sex with another teenage boy in his truck at a golf course car park, and that encounter happened just one day after the May 2 incident in the Hummer with the first complainant.

In addition to the sexual encounters, Nichols is accused of sending nude photos and videos of herself to multiple teenagers. She is also accused of performing sexual acts with a sex toy during live video chats with at least two minors who were under the age of 16.

Investigators also found that Nichols sent explicit text messages to two male students, describing her sexual fantasies which she wanted them to perform on her. Finally, she is accused of sending nude images to a female student and urging her to watch the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movies, after which she wanted to discuss the adult film.

According to police reports, only three days before her original arrest, Nichols had told one of the teenagers she had been messaging to delete their entire communication history, and this act led to the tampering with evidence charge she's also facing.

The Douglas County School System, which has faced a storm of concern from parents, said in a letter that it was “deeply troubled” when the first allegations surfaced. They also added that student safety is the district’s highest priority and that officials are cooperating fully with law enforcement. The district has not provided further specifics, directing all inquiries to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

At least four of the six alleged victims were students at Alexander High School, though the arrest warrants do not list the exact ages of the teenagers beyond confirming they are all minors. Nichols remains free on bond as the case moves forward, and the investigation is ongoing.
