In 2019, the quiet community of Lexington, Kentucky, was shaken by the tragic death of Savannah Spurlock.
Savannah Spurlock was a 23-year-old mother of four kids, including newborn twins.
At the time, she was going through a tough time after an unexpected childbirth and ongoing legal issues.
On the night of January 3, 2019, Savannah decided to take a break from her challenging life.
She borrowed her mothers's car, saying she was just going to grab some food.
But in reality, she planned to spend the night out with friends in Lexington.
Meanwhile, three other young men who worked together at a night shift job in Lexington had similar plans for the evening.
They wanted to blow off some steam after a tough work week.
They equally looked forward to cheap drinks and a night of fun.
Little did they know that this night would end in tragedy.

The Disappearance of Savannah Spurlock
As the night unfolded, Savannah and her friends ended up at a bar in Lexington.
It was here that Savannah crossed paths with David Sparks and two of his friends.
After a few drinks and some socializing, Savannah and the men decided to continue the night in David's Sparks house.
David's house was located in Lancaster, Kentucky, about 40 miles away.
Security footage from a nearby parking lot captured Savannah leaving with the men, heading toward their vehicles.
That was the last time Savannah was ever seen alive.
Savannah’s mother, Ellen Spurlock, grew worried after her daughter hadn’t returned home.
During a brief FaceTime call, Savannah told her mother that she was fine and would return home in the morning.
Unfortunately, Savannah never made it back home, and it wasn’t long before a missing person report was filed.
Investigation
The investigation into Savannah’s disappearance quickly focused on the three men seen with her in the CCTV footage.
The police questioned each of them, trying to piece together the events of that night.
David Sparks said that after drinking and some casual touching, Savannah passed out in his bedroom.
He claimed he left her to sleep in his bedroom while he slept on the couch in the living room.
He insisted that nothing inappropriate happened and that when he woke up, Savannah was gone.
However, the details of his story raised suspicions.
There were some inconsistencies in the timeline of events that night.
The two other men who left the bar with Savannah and David were questioned by police.
They both claimed that Savannah was alive when they left David's home that night
The investigation took a significant turn when authorities obtained a search warrant for David Sparks’ home and his vehicle.
What they found was chilling.
Several months after Savannah’s disappearance, her remains were found in a shallow grave.
The grave was on David’s family property, hidden in a strawberry patch.
The discovery confirmed the worst fears of her family and the community.
Justice For Savannah Spurlock
Investigators later determined that after the two men left David's house that night, he killed Savannah.
He then buried her body on his family's farm in a makeshift grave.
David Sparks was arrested and charged with Savannah’s murder.
The trial that followed revealed the dark and disturbing details of what had happened that night.
Despite his initial denials, the evidence against David was overwhelming.
David Sparks later admitted to intentionally killing Savannah Spurlock, but his exact motive remains unclear.
David Sparks pled guilty to the murder of Savannah Spurlock on December 17, 2020
He was subsequently sentenced to 50 years in prison for Savannah’s murder, along with an additional 5 years for tampering with physical evidence
Despite Sparks' guilty plea to murder, the specific reasons for his actions were not disclosed.
This has left many questions unanswered about the case.
