A Decade of Heartache: The Disappearance of Sarah and Jacob Hoggle

It has been a long, painful decade for Troy Turner, the beloved father of two missing kids.

He has spent the last ten years searching for his children, Sarah and Jacob Hoggle.

They mysteriously disappeared on September 7, 2014 in Maryland.

After a decade, their case remains unsolved, leaving a community haunted and a family devastated.

The Hoggle Family Before The Vanishing

Sarah Hoggle, and her younger brother Jacob, were the light of their family.

At the time of their disappearance, Sarah was 3 years old, and Jacob was only 2.

They were raised in a close-knit family in Montgomery County, Maryland.

They lived with their father, Troy Turner, and their mother, Catherine Hoggle.

Their father, Troy Turner, played an active and important role in their lives.

Unfortunately, their mother, Catherine Hoggle, was battling mental health issues.

She had shown signs of instability.

However, no one expected the tragic events that unfolded due to her condition.

The Day They Disappeared: A Family Torn Apart

On Labor Day weekend in 2014, Catherine Hoggle told Troy that she was taking the children to daycare.

What was supposed to be a normal day quickly turned into a nightmare when Catherine returned alone.

She gave vague explanations about where the children were.

She claimed they were safe, but refused to give specific details.

Troy couldn't make sense of what she was saying and grew desperate for answers.

He drove from place to place with Catherine, searching for Sarah and Jacob.

During this frantic search, Catherine slipped away while they were at a fast-food restaurant.

Troy Turner became tensed and confused.

He immediately reported all three missing — Catherine, Sarah, and Jacob..

A few days later, Catherine was found wandering the streets of Germantown, Maryland.

Though she was arrested, the children were nowhere to be found.

A Search for Answers: Piecing Together the Mystery

As soon as Troy Turner reported his children missing, an extensive search began.

Law enforcement, volunteers, and even the media sprang into action, trying to locate the two young children.

With no leads and no clues, the search became a waiting game.

Catherine refused to reveal the location of her children.

She insisted they were safe, but offered no proof or credible details.

In the years that followed, Catherine Hoggle was charged with murder.

However, her case never reached the courtroom.

She was repeatedly found incompetent to stand trial due to severe mental health issues.

Diagnosed with schizophrenia and paranoia, Catherine was declared unable to participate in her defense.

Instead of facing trial, she was sent to a psychiatric facility where she is today.

To date, she still claims that her children are alive and safe

For Troy Turner, the children’s father, the focus has always been on finding his babies.

"It’s been ten years, and the focus has been too much on her," he said, expressing his frustration.

"We need to focus on Sarah and Jacob, not just Catherine’s mental state," he added.

His plea for renewed attention has been echoed by many.

This includes John Bischoff of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

"Even ten seconds of not knowing where your children are is too long, let alone ten years," Bischoff stated.

The NCMEC continues to support efforts to find the children.

They have released age-progression images that show what Sarah and Jacob may look like today at ages 13 and 12.

Justice Delayed: The Frustrating Legal Battle

Even though the murder charges against Catherine were dropped, Troy Turner and his family have not given up hope.

They continue to advocate for their missing children, demanding answers and justice.

Turner has openly expressed his frustrations, stating that the legal system has protected Catherine, but not his children.

"The focus has deviated too far from my babies," he said, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Despite a decade of unanswered questions, the search for Sarah and Jacob Hoggle is far from over.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has remained committed to the search, regularly releasing updates and providing resources to law enforcement.

Their father, Troy Turner, continues to lead the charge.

He is keeping their story alive and urging anyone with information to come forward.

As the case remains open, both law enforcement and the community are left wondering: what really happened to Sarah and Jacob?
