Who Was Vicky White?
Vicky White, 56, was a dedicated employee at the Lauderdale County Jail in Florence, Alabama.
She had spent 17 years in corrections, earning the title of Assistant Director of Corrections.
Colleagues respected her, and she was even named Employee of the Year multiple times.
According to Wikipedia, Vicky White had no children in her lifetime.
She married her husband Tommy White in 2002, but their relationship ended in 2006 because he struggled with alcohol and drug abuse.
Despite the divorce, they stayed friends until Tommy’s death in January 2022.
Vicky white was known for her quiet demeanor, strong work ethic, and seemingly unblemished record.
But her life took an unbelievable turn when she began a secret relationship with Casey White, an inmate in her custody.

Who is Casey White?
Casey White, standing at 6’9”, was a career criminal with a violent history.
At 38, he was already serving a 75-year sentence for a 2015 crime spree involving attempted murder, robbery, and carjacking.
In 2020, Casey was transferred to Lauderdale County Jail
This was after confessing to the 2015 stabbing of 59-year-old Connie Ridgeway, a crime he later recanted, claiming insanity.
Despite his violent record, he formed an unlikely bond with Vicky, setting the stage for their audacious escape.
What Was the Relationship Between Casey and Vicky White?
The relationship between Vicky and Casey White began around 2020, two years before their escape.
This was during Casey’s transfer to the Lauderdale County Jail for pre-trial motions.
Reports revealed that Vicky had been giving Casey special treatment, from extra food to preferential privileges.
Authorities believe the relationship turned romantic, with Vicky being manipulated into helping Casey escape.
Casey was known for manipulating emotions and gaining sympathy from jail staff.

How Did Vicky and Casey White Break Out of Prison?
According to the criminal complaint, on the morning of April 29, 2022, Vicky informed colleagues that she was escorting Casey to a mental health evaluation at the courthouse.
This escort required two officers but due to her seniority, nobody suspected foul play.
Surveillance footage showed Vicky calmly walking Casey, shackled and handcuffed, to her patrol car.
However, there was no scheduled court hearing or medical appointment that day.
By the time the deception was discovered, Vicky and Casey were already gone, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions.

How Did Authorities Track Down Casey and Vicky White?
Authorities immediately launched a nationwide manhunt, warning the public that the pair was likely armed and dangerous.
Initially, criminal investigators thought Vicky White was kidnapped or forced into the jailbreak by Casey White, a convicted felon.
However, evidence gathered by authorities showed that she was a willing participant.
Vicky had sold her property for less than half its market value to finance their escape and purchased firearms, clothing, and vehicles.
Criminal Investigations into Vicky and Casey’s escape showed it was a well-planned escape.
The duo abandoned their first getaway car in Tennessee before switching vehicles.
They managed to evade capture for 10 days, hiding out in motels under aliases.
Surveillance footage eventually led authorities to Evansville, Indiana, where they tracked the couple to a motel on May 9, 2022.
A high-speed chase ensued, ending in a crash when law enforcement rammed their car into a ditch.
Casey White surrendered immediately, but Vicky was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
She died hours later at a nearby hospital.
Her death was ruled a suicide, marking a tragic end to her career and life.
She was laid to rest in her hometown in Alabama, with friends and family grappling to reconcile her actions with the person they knew.
Casey White’s Trial and Sentence
Following the manhunt, Casey White was extradited to Alabama and faced multiple charges.
This included escape and felony murder for Vicky’s death.
However, in May 2023, he accepted a plea agreement.
He pleaded guilty to the escape charges in exchange for the dismissal of the felony murder charge.
He remains incarcerated, serving his existing 75-year sentence with additional time for the escape.
Also, his trial for Connie Ridgeway’s murder is still pending.
If Vicky had been captured alive, she would have faced serious criminal charges, including obstruction of justice, for interfering with the legal process.
Tragically, she ultimately took her own life and was never held accountable for her actions.
