Nicholas Prosper: The 19-Year-Old Who Slaughtered His Family Before Attempting a School Massacre

On September 13, 2024, the quiet town of Luton was shaken by an unthinkable crime

Nicholas Prosper, a 19-year-old with a disturbing obsession for violence, murdered his own family in cold blood.

But this was just a part of his deadly and evil plan.

His intention was to carry out a mass shooting at a primary school, and his aim was to kill dozens of children and teachers.

Thanks to officers from the local police department who stopped him before he could commit further atrocities.

Let's get into the details.

Nicholas Prosper’s Deadly Plan: A Detailed Breakdown

According to police reports, Nicholas Prosper spent over a year carefully planning his crimes

His ultimate goal was to carry out a mass shooting at his former primary school, St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Luton.

But first, he needed to eliminate his family for his plan to go smoothly, as reported by BBC.

Prosper's preparation started with extensive research into infamous school shootings.

Particularly, he researched the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre where 20 children and 6 adults were killed.

He meticulously studied shooters' methods, weapons used, and casualty counts, all while compiling detailed notes.

According to court documents, his aim was to commit an even more deadly attack to gain more popularity.

His online activity showed that he frequently visited websites with violent content, including forums that discuss mass shootings.

Authorities say that Prosper deliberately chose his former primary school for the mass shooting.

He did not choose the school because of any personal grievance or past troubles.

He strategically chose the school because he was familiar with the layout and this would make the attack easier to execute.

According to BBC, Nicholas Prosper also chose a specific date for the killing.

He chose Friday, September 13, 2024 - a date that many think is cursed.

Propsper later told criminal investigators that he wanted a date with "a good name on it."

He even designed a distinctive black-and-yellow outfit to wear during the planned massacre.

In August 2023, Prosper tried to book a session at a shooting range but ultimately didn't attend.

In April 2024, Nicholas Prosper joined a gun sales website and began researching how to forge a firearms certificate.

He studied the specific logos, signatures, and even the type of paper used for legitimate licenses to create a convincing fake.

In August 2024, Prosper successfully purchased a shotgun and 100 cartridges from a private seller for £650, plus £30 for delivery.

He deceived the seller by presenting his forged license and using a false identity.

Prosper reportedly claimed to be a charity volunteer to appear trustworthy.

Prosper's written plans were later recovered by criminal investigators.

It revealed his intention to kill 30 children and several staff members at the school before taking his own life.

According to BBC, he saw his family members as obstacles that needed to be removed before carrying out his main attack.

In a chilling note found after his arrest, he wrote: "I was right in predicting no one would've called the police had I killed them in their sleep."

The Day of the Massacre: September 13, 2024

In the early hours of Friday, September 13, 2024, Nicholas Prosper carried out the first part of his plan at his family home in Marsh Farm estate, Luton.

Between 2:00 and 3:00 AM, he shot his mother Juliana Falcon (48) in her bedroom while she slept.

The gunshot woke his 16-year-old brother Kyle, who ran to the kitchen to hide.

Prosper followed Kyle to the kitchen where he shot him multiple times at close range.

When the shotgun jammed, he used a knife to stab Kyle over 100 times, according to BBC.

The noise then woke 13-year-old Giselle, who was shot in the face when she came to investigate.

Prosper later told police that he had planned to rape his sister Giselle before killing her, but "his mother messed it up".

Some neighbors later reported hearing loud bangs and screams between 3:00-3:30 AM.

One neighbor, Marium Abbas, clearly remembered hearing the disturbance.

She later said that she didn't call the police then because she wasn't sure of what was happening.

By 4:00 AM, Prosper had left the house carrying his shotgun and extra ammunition.

At approximately 5:30 AM, two police officers on routine patrol spotted Prosper walking near Bramingham Road, about 2 miles from his home.

They noticed blood on his clothes and detained him without even knowing they had just stopped a massacre.

A search of nearby bushes revealed the shotgun and 33 unused cartridges.

When arrested, Prosper repeatedly said "It's not murder" to the officers.

Forensic examination later showed all three victims died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Kyle's body showed evidence of defensive wounds on his hands and arms from trying to block the knife attacks.

According to investigators, this was one of the most gruesome crime scenes they had encountered in their careers.

Legal Proceedings and Justice for the Victims

Nicholas Prosper was arrested on September 13, 2024, after an extensive criminal investigation.

He was charged with three counts of murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and carrying an offensive weapon - the knife used in the brutal attack on his brother.

In November 2024, Prosper unexpectedly entered guilty pleas to all charges.

This eliminated the need for a full trial and allowed the case to proceed directly to sentencing.

Medical experts who evaluated Prosper confirmed he was fit to stand trial.

This was after they identified traits of autism spectrum disorder in their assessments, although Prosper was never officially diagnosed

During the sentencing hearing in January 2025 which lasted for two days, prosecutors methodically presented their case with overwhelming evidence including

1) Prosper's handwritten attack plans

2) His extensive internet search history documenting year-long research into mass shootings.

3) The forged firearms license used to purchase the shotgun.

4) Witnesses testimonies from neighbors and arresting officers who described his disturbingly calm demeanor immediately after murdering his family.

Throughout the proceedings, Prosper remained emotionless and declined to speak when given the opportunity.

His father, Ray Prosper, stood by his side and supported him throughout the court hearings.

On March 19, 2025, Mrs. Justice Cheema-Grubb sentenced Prosper to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 49 years before parole eligibility.

With credit for time already served, Prosper must remain incarcerated for at least 48 years and 177 days before parole consideration.

This makes his earliest possible release date 2073 when he would be 68 years old.

During sentencing, the judge specifically honored the memory of Juliana, Kyle, and Giselle Prosper.

She ensured they were recognized as victims rather than mere footnotes in Prosper's crimes.

The Prime Minister's office issued a statement endorsing the sentence as appropriate for the horrific nature of the crimes while expressing condolences to the Prosper family and Luton community.

In response to the tragedy, local authorities established a memorial fund in the victims' names to support violence prevention initiatives in schools.
