Desean Brown: Ohio Man Sentenced to Life for Throwing Ex-Girlfriend and Her Son Off Bridge

In Cincinnati, a man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the brutal murders of his ex-girlfriend and her young son, whose body has never been found.

Desean Brown, 25, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated murder in the December 2020 deaths of Nyteisha Lattimore, 29, and her 3-year-old son, Nylo Lattimore.

As part of a plea deal, he avoided death penalty, and instead, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

“What Brown did was ruthless, and this plea deal reflects that. This sentence delivers justice for both Nyteisha and Nylo,” said Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.

Nyteisha and Nylo

The tragedy began on December 5, 2020, inside Nyteisha’s apartment in the Walnut Hills neighborhood.

According to Cincinnati.com, Brown was staying at her apartment at the time while he sorted out his issues.

Prosecutors say Brown fatally stabbed her 11 times in the neck during a violent attack on that fateful day.

In the early morning hours of December 6, 2020, Brown took Nylo in his stroller to then Purple People Bridge—the iconic bridge connecting Ohio and Kentucky.

There, he threw the little boy and his stroller into the “icy cold” waters of the Ohio River.

Tragically, the boy was still alive when he hit the water but despite extensive searches, Nylo’s body has never been recovered.

Brown then lived in the apartment with Nyteisha’s body for days as reported by WLWT.

Prosecutors said there was so much blood it leaked into the apartment below. Brown later ordered a body bag on eBay.

On December 11, 2020, he placed Nyteisha’s body in the bag, ordered an Uber, and transported her back to the very same bridge.

He threw the body bag over the edge, but it became stuck on a ledge. The next day, a security guard found it and called 911.

"Somebody threw a bag, like on the edge of the bridge and my curiosity got the best of me," the security guard told dispatchers. "So I got up there, knocked it down and it was heavy. It hit the ground. It's like a body bag."

The plea deal was finalized after Brown was recently found competent to stand trial. Psychologists testified he had been trying to fake mental illness. They confirmed that he knew his actions were wrong because he researched how to clean up blood and lied to the Uber driver.

They also said that they believe Brown attacked Nyteisha because she had a miscarriage, and he killed her as revenge.

For the victims’ family, the hearing was a moment of long-awaited, painful closure. Rodrick Lattimore, Nyteisha’s father and Nylo’s grandfather, spoke directly to Brown after the sentencing.

“I just want this guy to know that you had no right to put your hands on my daughter, to murder my daughter and my grandson the way you did,” he said. “What did you do to my grandson? When you go to that prison, you're going to talk, and when you do, I'll be waiting. I want to know what really happened to my grandson.”

He added that a life sentence was appropriate, and that the death penalty would have been “the easy way out.”

His final words to Brown were: “Go to where you need to go — go to hell. That's where you need to go, go to hell.”

While justice has been served in a courtroom, the search for answers—and for a little boy lost to the river—continues for a heartbroken family.
