Kenneth was a well-known street preacher, and he lived with Carrie and their two young sons.
Carrie, 40, was a registered nurse and owner of a successful multi-million-dollar nurse staffing company.

The horrific crime came to light after Kenneth Hardin Jr. confessed to his father that he had killed his wife.
Instead of facing what he had done, Kenneth fled town in an attempt to escape punishment.
But his father quickly contacted the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, leading to a multi-state manhunt.
Investigators soon tracked Kenneth’s white Cadillac to Louisiana, and he was arrested at a motel in St. Tammany Parish after fleeing Georgia.
Before leaving, he handed custody of his children and his assets over to his father.
When crime scene investigators searched the home, they found bloodstains and noticed Kenneth had tried to scrub the carpet clean after the crime.
They also discovered several bullet holes, confirming the violent attack
In a desperate attempt to hide what he had done, Kenneth burned Carrie’s body in a pit in their backyard and later buried her in a shallow grave, as per Fox5atlanta.
“This was a crime of rage and betrayal,” said District Attorney Marie Broder. “The sentencing will not bring Carrie back, but it gives the family some measure of justice.”

During the investigation, authorities revealed that Kenneth carried out the crime after he learnt that Carrie planned to leave him.
According to her family, Carrie had already decided to end the troubled marriage. Her mother, Yvonne Smith, told FOX 5 that Carrie had accepted a job at a VA hospital out of state and was preparing to take her two sons with her.
“She told me she had plans for that Monday, but my daughter never made it,” Smith said. “She had accepted a position so she could get away from Ken"
During sentencing, Kenneth asked for a lighter punishment, but the judge rejected his plea.
“The mercy you are asking for is the mercy you should have shown your wife,” the judge told him in court.
Along with life without parole for felony murder, Kenneth also received a 10-year concurrent sentence for concealing the death of another and a 5-year consecutive sentence for possessing a firearm during the crime.
Carrie’s loved ones described her as kind, generous, and deeply caring.
Her mother shared how Carrie once used her college book money to pay a friend’s overdue electricity bill, later working extra shifts to afford her own books.
“She was very loving and is very missed,” Yvonne Smith said.
Now, Kenneth’s father has custody of the couple’s two children, while the family continues to cope with the devastating loss.
