Florida Couple Sentenced to Decades in Prison After Slitting a Man's Throat, and Throwing Him off a Bridge

Two people in Florida who tried to help a stranger ended up getting robbed, and one of them survived having his throat cut. 

The attackers were Natalie Fonseca and Nafis Reynolds, and the couple committed the crime in October 2023. 





According to police reports, Fonseca met the first victim on Facebook and they later arranged to meet.

She brought Reynolds along and told the victim that Reynolds was her uncle and that she needed food and money, as per Court TV.

While they were in his car, the couple stole his shoes, his wallet, his phone, and his car. 

They beat him, drove him to a bridge, cut his throat from ear to ear, and threw his body over the side. The victim managed to swim until a person on a boat saw him and pulled him out of the water.

About one week later, a second victim called the police to report that the same couple attacked him after he tried to help Fonseca and Reynolds pay for gas. They also took his money and his phone during that robbery.



Fonseca and Reynolds both later pleaded no contest to several charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and carjacking. 

The attempted murder charge alone could have sent them to prison for life, but they made a plea agreement with prosecutors to seek a shorter sentence.

At the sentencing hearing, Fonseca spoke to the judge saying: “There are no words for what both victims and myself have experienced,” she said. She also said she felt the need to protect Reynolds because he created trauma in her life and took advantage of her. Reynolds also apologized to Fonseca. “I know I failed you when you needed me the most,” he said. “Because of my actions, I destroyed your life in the process.”

Fonseca’s lawyer asked the judge to give her lesser sentence but Judge Linda Nobles said no. “The crimes that were committed are quite literally unfathomable,” the judge said. 

In the end, Nobles sentenced both defendants to 30 years in prison, as per the documentary below.
