Love Triangle Ends in Tragedy: Disabled Army Veteran, Darrin Reuben Lopez Convicted in Texas Murder-for-Hire Plot

A disabled Army veteran from Tennessee, aged 51, is set to spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of a murder-for-hire plot in Texas.

Darrin Reuben Lopez was found guilty by a Dallas County jury for the 2020 killing of James Faith, who was the husband of Lopez's long-distance girlfriend.

Jennifer Lynne Faith, the woman at the center of the tragic love triangle, had already pleaded guilty to orchestrating the murder and received a life sentence in prison.

Lopez drove 600 miles from Tennessee to Texas to carry out the shooting, after he was manipulated by Jennifer Faith, his high school sweetheart, with whom he had reconnected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the morning of October 9, 2020, the 15th wedding anniversary of James and Jennifer Faith, Lopez shot James seven times, resulting in his death.

During the trial, prosecutors showed evidence that Jennifer Faith concocted a false story for authorities, claiming an unknown assailant attacked them in a black pickup truck.

However, they were not allowed to discuss her guilty plea for hiring Lopez. Lopez's defense argued that he believed he was protecting Jennifer, whom he loved, from imminent danger.

Ultimately, the jury found Lopez guilty and sentenced him to 62 years in prison, considering the options he had before resorting to violence.
