Elderly Man Tragically Shot on NYC Street in Front of Wife by Masked Gunman Riding A Bicycle

In a tragic incident on a New York City street, an elderly man lost his life when he was shot in front of his wife by a masked gunman on a bicycle.

Marcelino Valerio, aged 80, and his wife had just stepped out of a car near their home at 1209 Ogden Ave. in Highbridge around 1:10 a.m. when the dreadful event occurred. The couple had been dropped off after attending a Sweet 16 party in New Rochelle, Westchester County.

The assailant, dressed entirely in black and wearing a black ski mask, approached Valerio on the sidewalk and fired two shots, with one striking him directly in the head at close range.

Surveillance footage, as captured by the New York Post, portrays the heart-wrenching scene, showing Valerio's wife in shock as two other women from the car desperately seek help from passersby.

Prior to the shooting, the suspect had been observed on surveillance footage passing by the building in the opposite direction but returned to the vicinity when the car arrived. Following the attack, the assailant fled on the bicycle and remains at large as of the time of this report.

The motive behind this tragic incident, if any, has not been disclosed by the police.

Described as hardworking and composed, Valerio was remembered by the building superintendent at an address where he had once lived.

Rafel De Leon, a worker, shared, "He wasn't out in the streets; he was a homebody. No problems ever arose with him. He was a marvelous person." Valerio is survived by his wife and daughter.

In another news, a teacher who went for an evening walk was bruttally murdered during the walk and her body dismembered. See detailed story here.
