FBI Offers $10,000 Reward for Capture of Homicide Suspect, Christopher Haynes Who Escaped Custody From A DC Hospital

The DC Metropolitan Police Department is in pursuit of a homicide suspect who managed to escape from custody at a university hospital on Wednesday.

The suspect, Christopher Haynes (pictured above), 30 years old, fled from George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC's Foggy Bottom neighborhood around 3:30 p.m.

Haynes is the subject of a homicide investigation, as disclosed by the police department. He was last spotted with black handcuffs on his right wrist and is described as a Black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

Law enforcement authorities suspect that Haynes abandoned his jail-issued uniform and is currently dressed in a black T-shirt and grey shorts under a white body suit.

Additionally, he has a conspicuous "W" tattoo on the front of his neck, which signifies Washington.

A DC government emergency alert advises caution, considering Haynes as armed and dangerous.

The US Secret Service's uniformed division is assisting in the search, along with the US Park Police, a federal agency, as reported by Sgt. Tom Twiname, a spokesperson.

Temporary road closures near the White House have been implemented as part of the search efforts, according to Anthony Guglielmi, a Secret Service spokesperson.

Around 20 minutes after his escape, George Washington University issued a "shelter in place" order for its city campus, assuring the community's safety.

No reports of harm within the GWU community were received. Police subsequently cleared the scene.

Although the suspect remains at large, he is not believed to be in the immediate vicinity of the university's Foggy Bottom area, according to an alert issued by the university.

In-person classes and events are scheduled to resume on Thursday.

George Washington University Hospital remains operational and is cooperating with local authorities.

The FBI has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of Christopher Haynes.
