Idaho Teacher, Cory Gaylor, Sentenced for Classroom Sexual Abuse of Student: Shocking Case Unveiled

A teacher faced sentencing on Thursday for committing sexual abuse against a student within the school premises. Cory Gaylor, aged 52, received a minimum sentence of 13 years in an Idaho correctional facility before becoming eligible for parole.

If parole efforts fail, he is mandated to serve a 60-year prison term.

On July 13, Gaylor entered a guilty plea for charges related to lewd conduct with a minor under 16 years old and enticing a child via online communication. Gaylor, employed as a Spanish teacher at Kuna Middle School, relentlessly pursued the victim, pressuring them for sexual acts, culminating in the sexual abuse taking place within his classroom.

Kuna Police conducted an investigation that revealed Gaylor's illegal sexual involvement with a minor, with weeks of text messages aimed at enticing the victim for sexual encounters before his arrest on December 8, 2022.

Deputy Prosecutor Katelyn Farley, during the sentencing, emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting the breach of trust.

She remarked, "Every day, parents entrust their children to the school—a supposed safe haven where children can be children, learn, and grow. The defendant, a teacher, was entrusted with educating [the victim]. Instead, he exploited this safe environment to select a victim. His abuse of his position is deplorable."

Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts acknowledged the victim's courage in reporting the crime and emphasized society's commitment to safeguarding children.

She also commended the diligent work of Ada County Sheriff’s Office detectives, which contributed to ensuring justice for the victim.
