A nurse was tragically found dead just days after her wedding in Oregon.
Her neighbor has been charged with her murder.
On Saturday, September 7, the Beaverton Police Department confirmed on Facebook that 32-year-old Melissa Jubane, reported missing three days earlier, was found dead.
Her disappearance occurred only days after she celebrated her wedding on August 24 in Hawaii.
The authorities received a welfare check request for Jubane, an employee at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, on September 4 at 10:10 a.m.
“[She] had not shown up for her morning shift, which alarmed her coworkers, friends, and family,” the department stated.
When police visited Jubane’s home, they found it empty.
With no communication from her, a red flag was raised.
Despite attempts to locate her and track any banking activity, nothing was found.
By that afternoon, Melissa was officially classified as a missing person.
The investigation led police to Bryce Johnathan Schubert, a 27-year-old neighbor.
After piecing together evidence, authorities believe he played a significant role in her disappearance.
Schubert was arrested and charged with murder on September 7, as confirmed by Beaverton Police.
That same day, Melissa Jubane’s remains were recovered.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police maintaining silence on further details to protect its integrity.
The department expressed gratitude to the community for their support in searching for Melissa and extended heartfelt condolences to her grieving family.
A Wedding Just Days Before the Tragedy
According to local news outlets, Jubane had recently married her husband, Bryan Llantero, on August 24, 2024.
The couple, had been together for a decade
They frequently traveled between Oregon and Washington, where Bryan’s family lived in Bremerton.
They first met at Mokuleia Beach in Hawaii, a connection that had blossomed over the years.
While Jubane stayed in her Oregon apartment near her job, Bryan often stayed with his family in Washington.
The last contact Bryan had with his wife was around 6 a.m. on September 4.
She never returned to work that day.
“There was no Melissa,” shared Imelda, a relative.
She explained that Melissa’s bag, wallet, and keys were gone, but her car remained parked at her apartment.
Imelda described Bryan as devastated.
She said his family rushed to Oregon as soon as they learned of Melissa’s disappearance.
“We all miss her deeply,” she added.
“I’m so happy Bryan found her. They were so happy together.”
A GoFundMe page set up to support Melissa Jubane’s family has since raised over $73,000.
The campaign honors Melissa as a dedicated nurse who touched many lives with her kindness and compassion, both professionally and personally.
The investigation into her death continues, as authorities seek justice for a life taken too soon.
