A 20-year-old guy got into big trouble after crashing a stolen car into several vehicles and hurting 10 people during a wild police chase in Midtown Manhattan.
His name is Kyle Fernandez, and he's facing many charges, including reckless driving, having a stolen car, driving under the influence, resisting arrest.
The whole thing went down during the busy evening rush hour near the corner of Lexington Avenue and East 42nd Street, right near Grand Central Terminal.
The police tried to stop a maroon Hyundai Tucson, which had been stolen from the Bronx on Monday.
But instead of stopping, the car sped away with the cops following slowly due to heavy traffic.
Kyle was allegedly driving the stolen Hyundai, and he crashed into a cyclist and a yellow taxi before jumping the curb and hitting a group of pedestrians while trying to make a U-turn at the intersection.
The SUV then went the wrong way on Lexington Avenue and collided head-on with another black SUV, which finally brought the chase to an end.
After the crash, Kyle tried to run away, but some brave people caught him and held him down until the police arrived.
The police found a small bag with a green, leafy substance and suspected drug-related items in the front passenger seat of the Hyundai.
As a result of this crazy incident, 10 people were injured, including two children aged 6 and 10.
Thankfully, the injuries were not too serious, mostly scrapes, neck, and back pain, but one person suffered a fractured ankle.
A witness named Michael Discioarro described seeing one victim bleeding on the ground and another injured person lying against a store door, clearly in pain.
The police later revealed that Kyle did not have a New York driver's license, and they discovered that he had a history of criminal offenses, including gun charges and drug-related incidents.
