French Tennis Star's Disturbing Testimony : Brave Angelique Cauchy Says She Was Raped 400 Times By Her Coach
Angelique Cauchy, a prominent French tennis figure, has recently come forward with disturbing revelations regarding her traumatic experiences. She courageously shared that, beginning at the age of 12, her coach subjected her to appalling abuse, amounting to 400 instances of sexual assault.
Her account unfolded during a poignant testimony in the French parliament.
Angelique shed light on the horrors she endured at the hands of Andrew Geddes, who, in 2021, received an 18-year prison sentence for the sexual assault and rape of four young girls.
Geddes' trial unveiled the grim details of his ruthless sexual misconduct. Shockingly, he frequently recorded these despicable acts, whether at his residence, inside his vehicle, or even within the confines of the tennis club.
Angelique Cauchy, who is now 36 years old, commenced her professional association with Geddes at the Sarcelles Tennis Club in Paris back in 1999. At that tender age of 12, she held the esteemed title of France's second junior player.
Tragically, the abuse commenced within a few months of their professional relationship, with Geddes disturbingly rationalizing it by claiming it was normal for coaches and students who spent a significant amount of time together.
Initially, Geddes lured her with trips to witness Paris Saint-Germain FC matches at their home ground. However, over a span of two years, the relationship rapidly devolved into an abusive nightmare, culminating in an unthinkable total of 400 sexual assaults.
In her heart-wrenching testimony at the Palais Bourbon, Angelique revealed the excruciating details of how Geddes subjected her to three rapes daily during a horrific two-week training camp.
She recounted, "I lived through the worst two weeks of my life. Suicidal thoughts plagued me repeatedly. He assaulted me three times daily. On the first night, he asked me to visit his room, and when I resisted, he invaded mine. I felt trapped."
Disturbingly, Geddes manipulated her to such an extent that she voluntarily visited his room at night, a stark reflection of the psychological torment she endured.
In a shocking twist, Geddes emotionally manipulated her further, falsely convincing her that he had infected her with AIDS.
Angelique shared her anguish, "One day, he approached me and declared, 'I have AIDS, that's certain, and I've given it to you.' In the late '90s, AIDS was even more terrifying than it is today; it paralyzed me. I lived from ages 13 to 18 believing I had AIDS. But he lied, solely to shatter me. It was perhaps even more devastating than the physical abuse."
Appallingly, when a member of the tennis club finally raised concerns about Geddes' predatory behavior, the club president shockingly responded, "Yes, but he brings us titles."
An inquiry launched in July aims to investigate the "operational failures within sports federations, the sports movement, and governance bodies." Following the testimonies provided during the summer at the Palais Bourbon, the report is anticipated to be released in December.
Meanwhile in Daytona Beach, two women found themselves in police custody on Seabreeze Boulevard after witnesses observed them engaging in concerning behavior with a baby. See detailed story here.
