The Rivers State Police Command has taken into custody three individuals accused of the murder of a young man known as Progress Iyogo and the gruesome act of harvesting his organs. This shocking incident occurred in the Ogbaraye community, situated within the Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state.

According to an account from a local source named Otuks, Progress, who worked as an Okada rider and hailed from the Aminigboko community, was transporting goods from Abua Central in Abua LGA when the tragic event unfolded.

The source revealed that an unknown individual, suspected to be involved in ritualistic practices, had engaged a group of five young men to procure specific human body parts, offering a substantial sum of money as compensation to the community.

"These young men were involved in illicit drug activities," the source explained. "A suspected ritualist approached them with a sinister proposition, seeking to obtain a human tongue and heart. Reportedly, the promised reward for this gruesome task exceeded N2 million."

He continued, "The victim in this horrifying ordeal was an Okada rider. He was hurrying to deliver someone's cargo from Central Abua to Amingboko, and the incident occurred around 11 pm along the Emebu/Obrean boundary. Tragically, they took the life of the man and mutilated his body for their sinister purpose. This dreadful event transpired on a Friday night. Following the commission of the crime, the perpetrators fled, but later, three of them were apprehended."
