Georgia Day Care Worker Arrested After Alleged "Horrific" Attack on 1-Year-Old Boy

A Georgia day care worker is facing serious charges after a 1-year-old boy was allegedly beaten on his very first day at Little Blessings Child Care, leaving him with cuts, bruises, and other injuries.

The child abuse case has led to outrage after the boy’s father, Cory Weeks, shared disturbing images of his son’s injuries on Facebook.

“This is every parent’s worst nightmare. This was his FIRST DAY!!!,” Weeks wrote on social media while expressing his anger.

According to Bainbridge police, Yvette Thurston, 54, was arrested on May 20, 2025, and she has been charged with first-degree aggravated battery and three counts of first-degree child abuse.

She was later released on a $44,000 bond.

Investigators say surveillance footage from the day care facility played a key role in the case.

While exact details of the incident remain unclear, Weeks claims the staff initially tried to cover up what happened.

“We were told another child in [the victim’s] class did this type of damage with a plastic toy,” Weeks wrote.

However, the surveillance video allegedly told a different story, according to WCTV

Weeks says he and his wife trusted Little Blessings Child Care to care for their children, because they operated inside the Bainbridge Church of God.

But instead, the opposite was the case.

“We trusted this facility to care and love our kids, and on their FIRST DAY, that was violated,” Weeks said.

“There will be more coming from this, and we will make sure nothing is ‘swept under the rug.’”

The 1-year-old boy was treated at a local hospital, though the extent of his injuries has not been fully disclosed.

Thurston’s arrest has raised serious concerns about child safety in day care centers.

Also, the case is still under investigation, and authorities have not released further details about the alleged abuse.

Additionally, attempts to reach Little Blessings Child Care for comment have been unsuccessful, as per Law&Crime

As the legal process unfolds, Weeks vows to keep fighting for accountability.

“Nothing we saw was for the faint-hearted, especially happening to such an innocent soul,” he said.
